016 Greener Grass by Kevin Terry

Greener Grass is my latest promotional mix for the Summer of 2011. This is also the first mix I’ve ever mastered. The first 3 tracks are a nice warm-up/groove. From there I cut straight to positive higher energy tracks. Most of these tracks I played at our first TWISTED by the Pool Party.

Track list:

Don’t Call (Original Mix) – Daniel Bortz
Precious Hall (Original Mix) – Lawrence
Vanishing Point (Original Mix) – Alex Arnout
I Never (Original Mix) – Russ Yallop
Lookin So Good – Till Von Sein and Tigerskin
Candy feat. Matt Tolfrey (Martin Buttrich Remix) – Lee Curtiss
Danzante (Original Mix) – Hector
Planets (The Revenge Lost Groove) – 6th Borough Project
Nightmoves (Pional Remix) – Space Ranger
Zougla (Phonique Remix) – Thodoris Triantafillou, Cj Jef
Warriors (Original Mix) – Lee Foss

Samples through out the mix were taken from the Warriors track by Lee Foss.

Melbourne Deepcast

Lee Curtiss 021

Rene Breithbarth 014

Thought I would share a couple of my favorite podcasts released by Melbourne Deepcast.

My most recent favorite is by one of the most highly demanded house music artists right now. Lee Curtiss.

And the second podcast is by one of my favorite DJs in Germany.  Rene Breithbarth.  Rene is know for playing his extended sets at Club der Visionäre in Berlin. I was lucky enough to hang out there a couple times but unfortunately it wasn’t when Rene was playing.  Maybe next time. Sorry I couldn’t find this one on SoundCloud so you’ll have to download it or even better subscribe to Melbourne Deepcast.

Single out 13th Sept on Moshi Moshi Records

A fellow friend and colleague of mine shared this video with me this morning.  I thought it was worth posting.  Not only is this a great song but the video will flood you with feelings of your teenage years.  Enjoy the show.

Free Shigeto EP Via Ghostly International

Shigeto - What We Held On To EP

Shigeto – What We Held On To EP by Moodgadget

This album has so many layers, so many different emotions.  Sound influences from Jazz and hip-hop with a touch of ambient and always a nice thick baseline.  There are also hints of 8-bit sounds and heavy compression.  Enjoy!

I Need Your Vote

Next Generation DJ - I Need Your Vote To Win

011 Transformation Of The Mind from Kevin Terry at Letsmix.com.

Pioneer, Beatport, DJ Magazine and Let’s Mix have come together to launch ‘Next Generation DJ’ (NGDJ), a talent competition designed to unearth the next superstar DJ and to give him or her the chance to win a life changing prize!

To win, DJs with the X-Factor will have to demonstrate their skills through several stages of the competition here on letsmix.com. We will be looking for creative music compilation and mixing skills as well as entrepreneurial drive.

Now to be honest my goal here is not to become the next superstar dj.  I was curious how well I could promote myself since it is one of the most important aspects of the completion.  In order to even make it to round 2 your have to have over 200 votes which I am learning is hard to get.  So you can promoting your mix and getting someone to make that vote is the main challenge.  The second round in my opinion is easy.  In the second round you have to make a mix based on a theme and then you are judged by industry leaders.

So all I am asking is for your honest vote in order to stay in the game.  I need to reach 200 votes by January 31st so spread the love and ask people to vote for me.

Thank you and wish me luck.

Richie Hawtin Visits St. Louis

Richie Hawtin @ Fabric

Richie Hawtin will be stopping by St. Louis this Independence Day and I must say this has been a highly anticipated night for anyone living in or around the St. Louis area that loves techno.  To have a true legend come through here is a treat.  I was lucky enough to see Richie along with fellow Minus artist Magda, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Hearthrob, and Gaiser in Berlin at the Kontakt party last fall.  The show was incredible however I am looking forward to a more intimate setting for the Saturday’s show.  I wonder what he will play… see you there!

Tickets can be purchase here.

011 Transformation Of The Mind

011 Kevin Terry - Transformation Of The Mind - Album Cover

011 Transformation Of The Mind by Kevin Terry

Here it is.  The long over due mix.  I spent some extra time on this one since it was so delayed.  There are clips from Jiddu Krishnamurti speaking on a show in the 1950′s called “The Real Revolution”  I was inspired by his words after watching him speak in a documentary.  This mix has an interesting flow at times moving from clicky clanky minimal to tech house to peak hour house. Enjoy!
